Tees You Need & Announcement

June 12, 2017 in Lifestyle / Style

Hey friends,

Today we’d like to introduce you to a new favorite. I remember back when I turned 18 and decided I was too old for “graphic tees”. Back then it was more the Abercrombie and American Eagle shirts that I felt like were just too juvenile. May I just say, I am so excited that graphics with witty sayings are popping up everywhere! Especially in the blogging world.

3 Buggas Design has the cutest t-shirts ever! They are so comfy, and you know we’re fans of all things witty 😉

I have wanted a shirt with the saying “Mommin’ ain’t easy” for a while now. It’s become one of my favorite phrases.  Mamas – you get it! Another favorite is “Kinda Classy, Kinda Hood” because…duh.

So perfect for a casual and relaxing Sunday!

This shirt is so fun, and perfect for most ladies we know. I loved it with a bralette, flared jeans and heels. It’d also be super cute with cutoffs! I paired it with dainty jewelry but a statement necklace would totally work here too.

I can’t get over how well this vibrant blue paired with a red lip. So perfect for summer…and the saying is just too accurate.

And now for the announcement! We have had so much fun blogging for almost two years (!) now. This space has been such a fun area to share things we love and we’ve grown much more than we thought we would. However, ever since we had babies (two weeks apart five months ago) it’s been hard to keep up! We have been thinking a lot about our direction and vision for this site. We have a ton of ideas, but it’s been impossible to find the time to make it happen.

SO – we will be taking the rest of the summer to redesign and get the aesthetic/feel that we want. We don’t have the time to post and do this at the same time, but we feel it’s essential to take time away so our vision can come to life 🙂 We plan on doing a lot more videos and posts about style, beauty, home, health, wife life and motherhood. While we know it’s better to “zero in” on a niche, we’re just going to keep writing about lifestyle / whatever we want 🙂 haha #REBELS.

You can expect new and improved content in September / October. You know we wouldn’t miss out on fall make up looks and trends! In the mean time, if you want to have a glance at our summer looks / lives, be sure to follow us on Insta! We post on there daily and love connecting! You can find us at @caffeinatedcurlsblog

So thank you all for reading and your support. We’ll be back…be ready 😉 And thank you to 3 Buggas Design for collaborating on this post. We are obsessed with these shirts!

Oh Girl, I’m With You

June 6, 2017 in Lifestyle / Style

This blog is meant to be a creative release. So yeah, we’re still doing Target Tuesday but I want to write about something that’s been on my mind. I follow a lot of blogs. I love them! However, sometimes I think to myself “I’m not the only one…right?” I feel like I’ve got a lot better in terms of comparing things but some of the things I see online makes me wonder WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE LIKE ME!? So if you’re a picture perfect mama, I think that is truly wonderful (seriously, I truly do). Every family looks different and if yours runs smoothly that is a beautiful thing…but this blog post isn’t for you.

I can’t be the only one who is not bikini ready, even though it’s been almost five months since I’ve had a baby. My body is soft and while I support the “embrace your flaws” thinking I will be most comfortable in a one piece this year (…and maybe forever). So if you’re just not there yet, oh girl, I am with you.

I can’t be the only one whose house is crazy. Somehow, it seems like something is always out of place. Our kids’ bathroom has been under construction since like…before Christmas. I’m purging our collection of stuff for the 10th time since moving a year ago. So if your house isn’t tidy at all times – oh girl, I am with you.

I can’t be the only one with a rowdy child. Do not misread that – with the exception of my husband I love my children more than anything on this planet. But he’s the definition of a sour patch kid. One second giving you a spontaneous hug and the next chucking a toy car at you. So hey, if your kid is amazing but still a bit saucy, oh girl, I am with you.

I can’t be the only one who runs like a chicken with her head cut off only to end up with a “meh” product. For example – doing dishes and laundry take a lot of time and are necessary but when they’re done the house just look normal. It’s not above and beyond. It’s not running to stay in place anymore. It’s sprinting to stay alive :-p So to you running around trying to stay afloat, oh girl, I am with you.

I can’t be the only one who’s not fully sold on being a stay-at-home-mom or a working-mom. I’m somewhere in between. I truly enjoy my job, but I miss my kids. I love my kids so much, but “I want to be where the people are”. So if you’re still trying to figure out what the heck to do…oh girl, I am with you.

I  can’t be the only one who buys (some) used clothing for her children. Seriously…if it’s not Target, from grandma, or for a specific occasion it’s probably from a consignment shop. My husband really pushed for this since they fit in them a hot minute and do a number on them within that time. I’ve felt guilty about this before, like it somehow makes me a bad mom. Then I realize they don’t actually care, and there’s worse things in life 😉 So for the mom who isn’t spending $50 on a toddler button up (…because ACTUALLY wth) oh girl, I am with you.

I can’t be the only one who forgets to eat lunch until 3 because my brain is on overdrive, or who’s sporting 4 day old hair. Who makes a large batch of dinner so that cooking doesn’t have to happen for three more days. Who is trying to excel in motherhood, marriage, my career and hobbies all while “taking care of myself”.

I can’t be the only one too tired to glam up for blog photos. This outfit would have been cuter with a pop of color from a skirt (didn’t want to iron) or some flares and heels (didn’t have the energy). But for quickies (;)) I think they turned out OK. You can find this adorable dalmatian print shirt here.

My life is crazy – two under two is amazing and also insane. There’s not really balance and there’s not a whole lot of glamour. Anyway, if your life resembles any of these things I just wanted to say you’re not alone. Maybe I’m naive but I do believe some people’s lives are as perfect as the photos portray. And that’s ok – but for those of you stepping on cars, trying to conceal under eyes and looking at way too many kid pictures during your lunch breaks…OH GIRL, I AM SO WITH YOU.

…now I’m ending this so I can go climb into bed and, as I do every morning and night, profusely thank God for my life. It’s so insane and imperfect but I cry on the daily because of the joy and love that fills it!

Decisions & Denim

June 1, 2017 in Style

Why can’t every week feel like this? Holidays are such a treat with both a long weekend and a short work week. I’m already dreaming up weekend plans with my little family. I feel like we’re constantly on the go and I know as the children grow it will become even busier, so I love to savor the laid back weekends.

Speaking of on the go…life just won’t slow down. I’ve been contemplating things regarding the blog for a while now and am unsure of where I / we want this to go. It’s so hard to find the time to take photos with little ones (harder than you’d expect) and feeling mediocre when it comes to something you’ve created is discouraging. Without the time / resources to pour in I start to wonder if the energy may be more efficient on other projects. Probably not something most bloggers would say but it’s truth, and I’ll speak nothing less 🙂

Anyway, if we continue…what would you guys like to see more of? Whenever we’ve asked that the response is a little overwhelming (…home, diet tips, motherhood, hair, and everything in between) but we want the posts to be meaningful and helpful for our readers! Shoot us a message, we love love love it.

On to more exciting things. If you haven’t caught on…Nichole and I love ripped denim. I don’t care if I’m too old to wear it or not, it’s just too fun. However, I’d say $50 is my limit when buying something that’s been destroyed prior to being sold 😉

These jeans are affordable and I really like the fit.

They’re a very stretchy material and I advise you size down. It’s hard for me to give a good recommendation on sizing since my body continues to change postpartum but with this material my regular size was a bit loose. Super comfy and easy to move in and the best part…with a price tag like that you don’t need to worry if a rip expands. While that has not happened to these, I have had that happened with ripped jeans before.

I think they’re comfy enough for weekend wear but cute enough for a date night look. What’s your favorite way to wear ripped denim?! And does your husband make fun of you for buying it? C’est la vie 🙂

That’s all we’ve got for today! Thanks for reading and be sure to let us know what you’d like to see more of here on our little space of the internet.
